Kevin, once again a wonderfully heartbreaking image.

Wow, talk about some hard living and hard travelling. Looks like a vision directly out of Bukowski's mind...

Kevin, I see you in these pictures. People who've been through hell don't necessarily want just anyone photographing them. Yet they give themselves openly to your camera. Something they see in you shows in their eyes. You've had a conversation with this man. Now he's ready to be photographed.

Petrea and All Ways make the big point. Anyway, it's another winner, sad and tough. I wonder, do you get the guys' stories, sense of biography as you talk with them?

I don't know, many things recall Tennessee Williams to me today.

For this one:

Life is an unanswered question, but let's still believe in the dignity and importance of the question.

Okay, it's a wonderful photo but . . . what Petrea said. Sad.

Joe was a Venice Beach legend, and his life gave way to alcoholism. He was a champion paddle tennis player, and the courts in Venice were dedicated to him last fall. I found him one day bleeding from the head in the alley and called paramedics for him. He died in 2011 on the streets of Venice, where he wanted to be.
